Carter

Okay...sorry, but I just have to brag on my adorable nephew for a moment. Wait, this is my blog right. I can brag all I want with no apologies. My mom and I got Carter this highchair for Alysia's shower gift before he was even born. He is now such a big boy and can sit in it all on his own. I just think he looks so adorable sitting in his new highchair! I had to share.

First Day of School

These are pictures of Jakob and Jaden on their first day of school. They started last Thursday and have been enjoying themselves so far. Yesterday was school picture day and I TOTALLY forgot. I did not send their forms, money or proper attire!!! OOPS!!! I will get back in the swing of things hopefully!!! :) Thank goodness for re-take day! Hopefully I won't forget.

Murder Mystery

We had an evening out with some friends on Friday night. We met together and had a Luau party and did a Murder Mystery! It was so much fun. Everyone got into their parts...I was Nadia Seymore, a fashion model visiting Hawaii for a photoshoot when my "boyfriend" gets poisoned and dies. Matt played the part of Joey Breakers a surfer dude and he ended up being the murderer!!! We ate some authentic hawaiian food and I made a tropical dessert that turned out really yummy!

Cards vs. Pirates

A sweet family from our church offered us 4 tickets to the Cardinals game for Tuesday night! We were so excited b/c first of all our boys haven't been to a Cardinal's game at all this season and second of all, they were awesome seats! We rode the metrolink over and sadly watched the Cardinals get beat by the Pirates! Jakob and Jaden had a grand ole time! Matt and I struggled over the $6.00 snow cones and broke down and bought both boys one! $6.00 for ICE!!! Ugh. Nana and Papaw kept Jameson for us because it was a late game and he wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much as we all did.

Magic House

We went to the Magic House in St. Louis this evening. It was a lot of fun. Jameson was much younger the last time that we were there. He wanted out of the stroller to explore all there was to do. Matt and I had a hard time keeping up with Jakob and Jaden as they sprinted to all the different stations. They had a great time shopping in the grocery store, fishing in the stream, watching mommy's hair stand on end and so much more. The Magic House is a fabulous place to spend the day if you are ever in the St. Louis area.

All good things must come to an end?

Well, not really, but sometimes that's how I feel in a house full of boys under the age of 7. We had a fun evening of getting Jameson all prepared to sleep in his bed last night. Things went so smooth and Jameson went right to sleep without a peep. He stayed in the exact same spot the whole night except for once I went in the get him straightened back out. He slept until 8:15am!!! Jaden decided at about 8am when he woke up to go climb in bed with him. That would have been fine, but the second he laid his head down Jaden's nose started to bleed....all over the brand new bedding!!!! So I had to treat the pillow case, sheet and comforter so that "hopefully" it won't stain. It wasn't anyone's fault, but it is just par for the course in this house!!!!

Big Boy Bed

Well, it's official...our baby isn't a baby anymore! We set up a "big boy" bed for him this afternoon. Matt and his dad went to pick up the bed this afternoon. It has special meaning because it was Jameson's Great Grandpa Rhoderick's bed and he passed away in February. We will think of him each and every time we tuck our little man into bed each night. Jameson is really excited about his bed and we are going to try it out this evening to see how the night goes. We still have the crib set up as a back up. We aren't quite ready to take that down just yet. His room has a Western theme and the bedding came from Grammy & Grandpa for his 2nd birthday that is coming up at the end of the month.

More Pictures from the weekend

Fun with Rubber Snakes

While we were in Indiana we spent time at Nannie and Papaw Joe's. Nannie keeps rubber snakes on her porch window to keep the birds away. Anyway, the boys always play with them. They got really creative this time around and wanted me to take pictures of them!

August Birthdays

We celebrate a lot of birthdays in August so we traveled to Indiana over the weekend to start the celebration. The 10th was Matt's dad's birthday and the boy's Papaw. So we had a birthday dinner on Sunday afternoon for him at Grandma Rhoderick's. The boys enjoyed paddle boating with their aunt and uncle. Jameson and I had fun swinging in the tree swing. The food was wonderful and visiting was a lot of fun.

August 11th was Nannie's birthday and we were able to see her over the weekend as well. The boys always love climbing the tree in the front yard and playing on the porch!

My dad's birthday is today the 12th. We went to Grammy and Grandpa's last night for his birthday dinner! Kris, Alysia, Carter and Uncle Jim were there to celebrate Grandpa's 51st birthday!!!

There are more birthday's to come...Uncle Kris on the 25th, Papaw Joe on the 26th, and Jameson's 2nd birthday on the 31st!

Late Night Swim

At the beginning of the month Jakob and Jaden had a Cub Scouts Swimming Party! I tried to get a picture by the fountains and as you can see they weren't really cooperating! (and by they I mean JAMESON) Jakob and Jaden were trying to be helpful, but it didn't turn out as I had hoped. It's funny how a lot of things in life are like that. It seemed like a great idea, but fell all to pieces the longer we tried. Anyway...we had a great time and the boys earned a swimming loop for their belt that evening as well. Great job guys!!!

School Time is Near

Jakob and Jaden are getting excited for school to start back up. They are ready to get back to their friends and a structured routine. We have enjoyed our summer! The highlights of our summer were Vacation Bible School, Jackson's 5th Birthday Party, a zoo trip, many afternoon's of swimming, and visiting some parks. It has been a very low-key summer, but very fun and relaxing for the most part.

The boys learned who their teachers would be for this coming school year. Jakob will be going into 2nd grade and he has Mrs. Forgeson and Jaden will be in 1st grade and he will have Mrs. Mueller-Hamman. Jaden is excited because that is the same teacher that Jakob had and he loved her. She is a wonderful teacher and it should be a great year for both of them. Jameson will not know what to do with his brothers gone all day long. Hopefully I can keep him busy to pass the time.

A Woman's High Calling

"Homemaking is an art, and you have the privilege of expressing and developing all your talents there in a little place called home. You get to build...beautify... organize...create...fuss...express yourself. You get to read and study and grow and master nutrition, finances, horticulture, design, wardrobe, etc. And you also get to shape your children, to give their precious lives a bent toward God. To nurture their souls with the good things of God. To pass on the truth about Jesus to one more generation. And to do so means you've got to be dedicated, organized, and a woman of purpose. And you've got to have the spunk and energy to follow through on all the dedication, organization, and purpose that answering God's high calling to homemaking requires.

"
